Kurbanı kabul edilmeyen, 'Seni öldüreceğim' demişti. O da (Habil), 'Allah sadece muttaki olanlardan kabul eder. Andolsun sen beni öldürmek için bana elini uzatsan da ben seni öldürmek için elimi uzatmam. Ben alemlerin Rabbinden korkarım. Ben dilerim ki sen benim günahımı da kendi günahını da yüklenesin ve cehennem halkından olasın. Zalimlerin cezası budur' dedi.
(Kabil'in) Nefsi kendisini kardeşini öldürmeye yöneltti ve nihayet onu öldürdü; böylece ziyana uğrayanlardan oldu. O anda Allah bir karga gönderdi. Karga ona, kardeşinin cesedini nasıl gömeceğini göstermek için yeri eşeliyordu. 'Yazık bana, şu karga kadar bile olmaktan, kardeşimin cesedini gömmekten aciz miyim!' dedi; sonunda da pişmanlık duyanlardan oldu.'
